As practicing lawyer since 1994, Mr. Balmaseda has extensive experience in public and private law. He specializes in real estate, commercial, civil and criminal law; in addition, he is continuously undertaking training which enables him to consolidate his experience and bring creative legal solutions that are adequate to every client.
He is president and founder of Balms Abogados (1990) – a company whose scope initially included just the cities of Marbella, Madrid and Vigo, only to later expand to Bucharest, Burgas, Sofia and Tangier. The firm has a deep vocation: to “offer a comprehensive service customized to the specific needs of each and every client, based on excellence and professionalism”.
President and Founder of Balms Group International (BGI) in 1996, which was the first association of independent law firms.
Honorary president and EVP of Balms Foundation for Children, a non-profit organization founded in 2002, aiming at improving the condition of marginalized and underprivileged children.
After having attended a private high school in the capital, he continues his undergraduate education at the Complutense University of Madrid. There he pursues various degrees, specializing in Political Science, Sociology and Law, followed by two Master’s degrees, one of which focused on Tax Consultancy at the Institute for Business Studies of Madrid, while the other on Community Law/ European Law, at the Complutense University of Madrid.
In addition to this, his training was consolidated by various professional courses which he attended, such as: Urban Planning Law at the Malaga Bar Association and another Master’s in International Law, which he achieved from the University of California, Berkeley, U.S.
He speaks fluent English, as a result of his residence in the United States (Berkeley and New York) and United Kingdom. He also has a good command of French, which he improved throughout his stays in Paris Luxembourg. In addition to English and French, he speaks Italian and Portuguese.
