The nomination of “Caballeros Custodios de Calatrava la Vieja” and awarding medals for professional merit, including our partner Juan Luis Balmaseda de Ahumada y Diez

Last 5th of October, at 17:00, an act of appointing new knights took place at the Villa de Calatrava la Vieja and prizes for professional merit were also awarded in which the trajectories of our president, Juan Luis Balmaseda de Ahumada y Diez, who was awarded the bronze medal with a blue badge for professional merit.

Last 5th of October, at 17:00, an act of appointing new knights took place at the Villa de Calatrava la Vieja, including personalities such as Alfredo Perdiguero (deputy inspector of the National Police), Francisco Javier Simón (Economist), Daniel Notario (Entrepreneur) o José María Oliva (Pharmacist and Entrepreneur). In addition, during the ceremony, prizes for professional merit were awarded in which the trajectories of Javier Algarra Bonet, Gonzalo Barceló, Xavier Horcajo and our president, Juan Luis Balmaseda de Ahumada y Diez who was awarded the bronze medal with a blue badge for professional merit.

The commitment of civil society with the dissemination of the History of Spain and with the care of our cultural heritage is essential so that the legacy that has reached us is not diluted and preserved for the enjoyment of future generations.

The cultural association “Caballeros Custodios de Calatrava la Vieja” is an organisation dedicated to the care of the historical and cultural heritage related to the Order founded in the 12th century by San Raimundo de Fitero to defend the square of Calatrava during the reconquest. This old citadel, constituted a strategic enclave of great value, so Sancho III entrusted San Raimundo with his defence and, faced with the success harvested, founded the Cavalry Order of Calatrava and became the first Master of it.

The association "Caballeros Custodios de Calatrava la Vieja " also collaborates in the dissemination of the history of Spain and its commitment to culture is evidenced through the presentation of books, projection of documentaries on video and awards of professional merit of various members of the civil, religious and military field of our society.

Together with the President, Pedro Carriazo, a multitude of personalities such as Javier García Isaac (director of Radio Ya), José Luis Barceló (renowned economic and financial information journalist and political analyst who is also director and editor of “El Mundo Financiero”) or Enrique de Miguel Sánchez Motos (Civil Administrator of the State and former Secretary General of INHST in the Ministry of Employment).
